Kayak Clean-Up at the Estuary
February 1, 2025 @ 9:00 am - 12:30 pm
It’s that time of year again for our Annual Kayak Clean-Up! Once a year, the San Diego River Park Foundation receives special permissions and permits to put kayaks IN the Estuary east of Ocean Beach. Volunteers will be able to kayak around the Estuary to clean all the accessible trash they can find. We have carefully timed this clean-up to coincide with the King Tides and to avoid the nesting season for specific endangered species, such as the Light-footed Ridgway’s Rail.
This is a rare and unique opportunity to make a difference!! You can bring your own kayak, or SDRPF can provide a spot in a tandem kayak for you, but spots are very limited!
Kayak Shift 1: 9:00am – 10:30am (check-in at 8:30 am)
Kayak Shift 2: 11:00am – 12:30am (check-in at 10:30 am)
If kayaking is not your thing, but you still want to be a part of the fun, we are also running a clean-up along the shore from 9 am – noon to help clean the entire estuary. To learn more about the shore clean-up and/or to sign up, please click here.
Thank you to to our partners at the City of San Diego for allowing this special event, and to Think Blue San Diego for sponsoring this clean-up!
